Nature and Scope

The Food Service Worker (FSW) assists the Cook in variety of tasks related to the preparation and serving of food and assembling patient trays per Patient Diet Order. The FSW duties include, but are not limited to, the following: operates dishwasher and other mechanical equipment; stocks and records necessary supplies; general cleaning both per posted schedule and as needed; maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen per state and federal guidelines; and performing general department duties as requested and needed. Must be able and willing to work a split shift and week-ends.

Compensation

Compensation for Benefited, Part-Time Pay Scale

  • Base Rate: $19.56–$24.96 per hour 
  • Starting pay is determined using our non-clinical pay scales, which feature 6 steps recognizing up to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible employees may also receive shift differential and holiday pay

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous Commercial Kitchen experience.

Education:

  • Obtain a California Food Handler Card within three (3) months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, read, write and follow verbal and written directions in English.
  • Must be able to work well with people and be willing to learn.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn therapeutic diet guidelines, and general quantity and quality food preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Cook with Patient meals
  • Accurately set-up patient tray, and refill condiment containers on carts as needed.
  • Assist Cook in preparing snacks, drinks and supplements for Patients.
  • Maintain organized and clean kitchen, using posted cleaning schedule.
  • Maintain a current list of needed supplies
