Nature and Scope

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager to supervise clinical nursing staff and perform education and training in our Rural Health Clinics. Position encompasses care of patients from intake through checkout and between visits. Assistance to Physicians or Advanced Practice provider, telephone triage, chart organization, and care of equipment and the environment.  The Nurse Supervisor oversees competency testing for back office clinical staff. Assist with identifying staff members learning needs. Prepare curriculum based upon the needs of each new hire group and identify target areas for focused training. Assess learner’s ability to perform task within scope. Precepts and mentors’ staff. Arrange and coordinate annual skills competencies and department specific training, update the Learning Management System with both internal and external course offerings. Participates in development of staff in-services. Leads staff emergency drills and works collaboratively with the safety officer, infection control, and employee health to provide staff education. Participates with planning and coordination of staff emergency preparedness drills.

Compensation

Compensation Philosophy:

  • We have 13 pay increments on our clinical pay scales to compensate staff for 30 years of relevant experience. 

Compensation Range:

  • $58.98 - $84.09

Qualifications

Education:

  • Current California RN license
  • Current CPR Certification.

Experience:

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years’ clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to function independently to make patient care decisions for the safety of patients and co-workers.
  •  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills, good verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with physicians, management and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn, accept change, and assume different duties as needed.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards
  • Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership
  • Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs
  • Ability to present effectively to small and large groups
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel with preferred experience in Power Point

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement educational programs including orientation, in-service, and continuing education to prepare staff to deliver the highest quality of nursing care available.
  • Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.
  • Monitor trends and implement educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.
  • Supervises and monitors Preceptor activities.
  • Re-educate employees when deficiencies in performance are identified.

Child Care:

Our program is operational from 7:45am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday, and is approved for children aged 0 to 5 years.
