Nature and Scope

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is a member of the Emergency Services team and works closely with the Emergency Department Physician to provide appropriate and timely treatment to all patients who present to this department for care. The ED RN has the ability to maintain order and flow during peak patient surges, respond to multiple demands with integrity and persistence, prioritize duties according to their critical nature and achieve desired outcomes for our patient population. The ED RN contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through participating in performance improvement techniques that provide positive outcomes. The ED RN will assist in other hospital nursing areas as low census permits.

Compensation

Compensation Philosophy:

We have 13 pay increments on our clinical pay scales to compensate staff for 30 years of relevant experience. 

 

Compensation Range:

$46.48- $ 66.27 / hour

 

Sign on Bonus:

$5,000.00

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.  Current California RN license required. Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS required. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE preferred.

 

Experience:

Minimum of one year ED or critical care nursing experience within the last five years preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of ED nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others.  The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will be required to successfully complete competencies for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriately and efficiently triages all patients seeking medical care from our Emergency Department for their injury or illness or concern. Assigns appropriate ESI (Emergency Severity Index) acuity level.
  • Maintains knowledge of Nor-Cal EMS Trauma Triage Criteria
  • Follows policies and procedures related to EMTALA compliance for treating all patients
  • Complies with EMTALA documentation and requirements for patient transfers
  • Knowledge of EMResource (EMSystem), its purposes, functions time requirements and regularly participates in updating at the beginning of each shift.

Child Care:

PDH is thrilled to provide our Child Care Center services to all families in our area. Our program is operational from 7:45am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday, and is approved for children aged 0 to 5 years.
