Nature and Scope

Responsible for overall operation, administrative, and clinical performance of the laboratory. Provides clinical direction to laboratory staff and coordinating medical services for providers and patients.  Manages administrative operation of the lab and supervises all clerical and technical laboratory staff, and varies levels of assigned personnel to patient volume. Manages reporting, monitoring, resources, and laboratory personnel. Works closely with team members to provide effective solutions to support business and quality objectives. Manages hiring, oversees new hire orientation, facilitates staff training, and performs employee evaluation. Works in and oversees the operations of medical testing laboratory.  Oversees Quality Control and Quality Assurance to compliance with rules, regulation and accreditation requirement of regulatory agencies, including Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Joint Commission (JC), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).  Assists in the development and updating of Lab technical and safety policies, procedures and quality control practices and monitors technical and financial performance to ensure safety, security, quality, and accuracy of results. Analyzes requests for tests and equipment and designing and performing test procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Compensation

Compensation Philosophy:

We have 13 pay increments on our clinical pay scales to compensate staff for 30 years of relevant experience. 

 

Compensation Range:

$62.74 - $ 89.45 / hour

 

Sign on Bonus:

$10,000.00

 

Housing Stipend:

We provide three months of paid housing or $1,200.00 / month housing stipend for the first three months of employment

Qualifications

Education: 

Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Medical technology, Clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences or allied health technologies or equivalent.Must have a current California Clinical Lab Scientist License.

Preferred:Master’s Degree.

 

Experience:

Five years of experience as a clinical lab supervisor or comparable experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Computer skills desirable. Financial knowledge skills desirable (budgeting, operating costs/profits, equipment acquisition forecasting, rate setting methodologies). An understanding of the mechanical operations of laboratory equipment and troubleshooting ability desirable. Expertise in phlebotomy desirable. Successful experience in dealing with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and monitors the laboratory budget with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and/or Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
  • Actively participates with the Medical Staff, COO, and department managers to improve, increase, and expand laboratory services and CQI.
  • Establishes and writes procedures, protocol, and policies for the laboratory and with other departments which coordinate interactions with the laboratory.
  • Interviews, hires, evaluate, commend, and disciplines laboratory personnel. Recommends promotions, salary increases, and terminations.
  • Supervises and evaluates in a timely manner, the orientation of new employees to the laboratory and hospital. Supervises and evaluate annual orientation of all laboratory staff.

Our program is operational from 7:45am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday, and is approved for children aged 0 to 5 years.
