Nature and Scope

Under the direction of Director of the Childcare Center, the substitute teacher aide will be responsible for facilitating the day to day operations of the center or helping the teacher facilitate the daily operations of the center. The substitute teacher aide will monitor and ensure safety and program guidelines in their classroom, provide a safe, happy, and positive environment for all children, plan and implement all activities appropriate for 0-5 year-olds, complete DRDP assessments as needed, and communicate with parents as needed.

Compensation

Compensation for Non-Benefited, Limited Part-Time Pay Scale

  • Base Rate: $18.63–$23.77 per hour 
  • Starting pay is determined using our non-clinical pay scales, which feature 6 steps recognizing up to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible employees may also receive shift differential and holiday pay

Job Status / Shift Information

  • Limited Part-time,non-beneifted
  • Child Care Center is open Monday-Friday 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Six (6) completed units of early childhood education andenrolled in at least 2 semester units at a college until fully qualified or possess a teaching credential.

Experience:

  • On the job training provided. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Title 22 Regulations
  • Planning and implementing curriculum for children ages 0-5 years
  • Current principles and practices of early childhood education in a play-based, family centered program
  • Family inclusion and education
  • Completing observations related to the DRDP

Other Requirements:

  • DOJ and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Eight (8) hours of Preventative Health and Safety Training within three (3) months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Helps the teacher(s) with all aspects of their classroom(s), which includes ensuring compliance with Community Care Licensing, Title 22 Regulations, and all requirements pertaining to health, safety standards and emergency procedures of the site.
  • Communicate with classroom teacher(s) regarding any concerns or feedback from families or volunteers.
  • Participates in professional growth activities throughout the year, both self-initiated and Director initiated.
  • Helps to implement age appropriate principles, practices, and curriculum for children ages 0-5 years.
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgement when interacting with families and/or volunteers.
