The nurse in the perioperative area is a professional nurse who is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative phase. Perioperative nurses use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care, assisting surgeons and surgical teams to care for a patient before, during, and after surgery (surgical procedures). Assists with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource person for problems related to patient care. On call hours are required with a 30 minute response time.
Maintains a current California Registered Nurse License; CPR, ACLS, PALS and procedural sedation certifications as directed by hospital policy.
Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.
