The Payroll Specialist prioritizes work activities to ensure that accounting functions are completed accurately, timely and according to established policies and procedures. Performs record keeping activities that ensure accurate documentation for the recording of financial transactions. Assists the Controller and Senior Staff Accountant in maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of the financial reports, budgets and fixed asset records. Knowledge and ability to process bi-weekly payroll and accounts payable. Has comprehensive knowledge of the computer system, especially the general ledger, accounts payable and payroll applications. Maintains confidentiality of all work information and is required to maintain complete confidentiality relating to pay records.
Preferred Education: AA degree in related field
Experience: Minimum of three years general accounting experience preferred. Two years’ experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Computer experience required, including experience in Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent interpersonal relationship, adaptability and communications skills required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate good reading, writing skills, and effective verbal communication. Ability to read, write and understand the English language. Ability to operate a ten-key calculator with proficiency. Must be computer literate and have the ability to type 45 words per minute.
