Under direct supervision of the Dentist, the Registered Dental Assistant will prepare patients for examination or treatment and make sure that the patients are relaxed and comfortable. Assures that all needed supplies, instruments and equipment are ready. May also do clerical duties such as making appointments, case record maintenance, billing and payment functions, and handle patient’s dental insurance.
Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Current CPR card required. Dental X-Ray Certificate required; or willing to enroll in program with completion date set. Must be willing to obtain Infection Control certification within first 12 months of employment.
Experience: 1 – 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills with patients required. Knowledge of current dental assistant practices and procedures. Must have knowledge of alphabetical filing system. Must have sufficient knowledge of verbal and English comprehension and expression to communicate clearly with callers, visitors and staff. Must be able to perform simple addition and subtraction, and read and copy numbers accurately.
