  • Overview

    The Materials Manager is responsible for the personnel and functions in the Materials Management area. The Materials Manager supervises purchase, storage, control and issuance of materials and maintains contacts with supply sources, sales representatives, to keep informed of price trends, availability of supplies, new items and reliability of suppliers.  The Materials Manager assists in establishing requirements for items or services to be procured and helps to develop standard specifications.  The Materials Manager plays a key role with the Chief Financial Officer in the development of an annual Capital Budget for the Hospital.  The Materials Manager maintains direct relationships with hospital group purchasing organization, and conducts and supervises annual physical inventory of supplies.


    Preferred Education:  High School Education or equivalent.

    Experience:  Several years’ experience in a hospital purchasing or supplies department required. Formal and informal (on the job) training in supervisory skills desirable.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Must be able to read, write and understand the English language. Excellent public relations skills and ability to communicate with vendors required. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
