  • Overview


    The Clinical Informatics Specialist I (CIS1) is responsible for participating in the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and orientation of Electronic Health Records (EHR), Admitting and Scheduling functions, and other applications related to the patient experience. The CIS1 is responsible for facilitating communication from the clinical end-users across the patient care departments while working collaboratively and directly with the vendors and the IS Department. The CIS1 works to optimize the clinical design to meet the needs of EHR end users, including physicians, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, ancillary, clinical and administrative staff. The CIS1 establishes teamwork through appropriate deployment of process, technical, and human resources in collaboration with the IS Department and Department Managers and staff. This position requires the employee to share in being scheduled “standby” hours, to be available to be called in during non-scheduled work time.


    Preferred Education:  California RN or LVN licensure preferred. 

    Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a clinical Hospital or Ambulatory setting. Prior experience implementing information systems with EHR experience preferred.  

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of clinical processes and ability to improve efficiency and patient care, preferably in conjunctions with the implementation of an EHR.   Knowledge of health and information regulations and the ability to develop and improve systems to meet or exceed regulatory requirements.  Strong Microsoft Office and Windows Operating System skills.  Must possess strong organizational skills.  Must possess problem solving, analytical, customer service, oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities.  Ability to understand the complete PDH system, how each component is influenced and impacts predecessor and successor functions from beginning to end of the patient and documentation cycle.  Functions as a change agent, not threatened or intimidated by change and uncertainty.  Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
